A brief history of Oulton Park Racing Circuit – Little Budworth, Tarporley, Cheshire.

Oulton park racing circuit had its first race in August 1953, when both car (Formula 3) and motorcycles were present – with the motorcycles being more prominent.  Previously to Oulton Park becoming the renowned racing circuit it is today, there was, of course, Oulton Hall which was sadly destroyed by fire in 1715.  The ancestral home of the Egerton family for over 500 centuries, was replaced by a new buildings over the years which was also destroyed by fire in 1926 and led to the unfortunate deaths of 6 people.

During World War II, the land was used by the military, including General Patton, for training exercises, such as for the Normandy Landings.  Afterwards it was returned to the Egerton family.  Leased to the Mid-Cheshire Motor Club by the Egertons, Oulton Park started to develop its reputation amongst the likes of Silverstone and Snetterton, hosting major events and attracting crowds and racers from around the world.  Of course, there is much more to the story of Oulton Park too which you can find out more about on visiting their amazing racing circuit!
